Did I mention that I am also taking a tax class? A former employer of mine is now the owner of Liberty Tax, and when Sam and I went there this past winter to have our taxes done, she asked me if I'd be interested. I said I was. The class began last week, and I didn't think I'd be able to attend because of finances. My new job is great, but because of some unanticipated new paperwork that my boss had to incorporate after a PSR and medicaid training, it has taken longer than either my boss or I planned to build my caseload to the amount of hours we had agreed that I would work. The hours are better now thankfully.
But, going back to the tax class...
So I told my old employer that I just couldn't afford it because of the new job and lack of work hours (and being an old PSR company owner she could completely understand). She asked me, "Is the money the only reason [you can't take the class]?" I said yes, and then she said she would sponsor me! How amazing is that? I am taking a FREE class and learning some valuable financial info. for our personal finances. Plus, she is looking to hire for next year's tax season! So, maybe even a temporary little part time job to put into savings or a family vacation :)
I just feel so blessed. We're paying our tithing and it is showing. Sam only has a year left of school. His band is picking up and besides having fun with it, he is also starting a consistent gig that is willing to pay if the band creates enough of a turn out. I'm in a free class. My masters degree will help to secure a comfortable lifestyle for Sam and I and our children when the time comes for him needing another transplant and me possible having to be the main provider.
I think Heavenly Father always opens another door when the planned-on door closes. And we might have to search for that other door, and work to get to it, but it's there and it is accessible. And that other door always leads to something just as good as the first, and sometimes even better.
