Mom and I spent the afternoon together and then the next morning my mom, sister, grandma, and I made the 8 hour drive down to North Carolina :) My mom had rented 2 side by side attached condos at a place called Barrier Station Island. It was such a nice place, and of course I didn't take any pics of it ;) But it had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a wrap-around deck, and we were surrounded by the beautiful woods. The club house was walking distance and my sister and I went to the outdoor pool the next day. We laughed so hard just like when we were kids. We had no qualms about racing each other and playing tag in the pool in front of the other guests. My sister and I are very different in many ways but have enough similarities (especially that we both love to be silly) that we can really have a lot of fun together.
On Sunday we all went to the beach. I love the coast! We walked along the beach; I was able to have a nice conversation with my grandma during our walk, picking up seashells, and feeling the sand and the waves against my legs. It was just really nice.
Except for the sunburn. I hadn't put any sunblock on my legs, because they just don't seem to tan as quickly as my face or arms, so I wasn't worried about them. I should have been. I got the worst sunburn I have ever had on my legs that day! My legs were so red and I felt like my skin was 1 size too small! And I was more dehydrated than I realized...I had been drinking water, but apparently not enough. That night, about 3 am I woke up and was walking towards the restroom. By this time my legs were killing me; they were really stiff from not walking for a few hours and the sunburn setting in. And I was really tired from all of the traveling and little amounts of sleep. Plus the combination of being dehydrated, and it wasn't too long after standing up that I began to feel dizzy. The next thing I remember is my sister saying "Kel, Kel are you alright?" I was lying on my stomach on the bedroom floor! I must have fainted! I tasted blood in my mouth from biting my lip sometime when I fell, and my sister and mom helped me stand up. Needless to say, I spent the next day on the couch in my undies (clothes hurt too much against my sunburnt legs, lol!), drinking lots of water, lathering on the aloe vera, and watching episode upon episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
My legs felt better day by day and I went out and about with my family again. We played mini golf, and I laughed so hard at my sister's antics! She totally pushed the ball with her foot or golf club just to try and get it in the hole faster. She's not any better at golf than she was when we were kids!
Okay, this post will be a To Be Continued...cause there's a lot more to write :)
