Sam has been watching Lord of the Rings lately and has been taunted by the several scenes depicting slabs of cheese, bread, and flagons of mead. So he had a brilliant idea that we were going to have our own little Medieval Night for dinner. We went to the store and purchased one of those rotisserie chickens, three different types of cheeses (none of which I had tried before, and I love them all now...munster, havarti, and smoked gouda), a baguette, and for mead we bought Martinelli's sparkling cider. We ate with our hands and drank the cider out of real German steins.
We had so much fun! It was a creative idea, and so simple and inexpensive to do, and the best part is the memory we made (we took pics on the disposable camera), and I think we may just have started a new family tradition :)
