Our Life Together

Rexburg, ID, United States
We've been married for 5 years! We met here in Rexburg, Idaho where we lived in the same apartment complex, volunteered with similar church callings, and attended the same university. It was only a matter of time before we'd bump into each other! Kelly graduated with her bachelors in psychology and has since been working with mentally ill adults and children. She has been accepted to Drexel Univeristy for her Masters in Higher Education Administration and Organizational Management. Sam recently graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with his bachelors in English Literature. We've had so much fun and so many growing experiences in the past 5 years, and have weathered so much good and bad during our young marriage. And we love each other so much more as a result of the happy and sad experiences that we have gone through hand in hand with each other and with the Savior. Our life is a simple one, but it's ours and we're glad to have it.

Valentine's Day

Sam and I had a quiet day at home for Valentine's Day. He gave me a beautiful letter that he had written expressing his love and feelings towards me.  I have been nothing short of amazed each Valentine's Day with Sam.  Our first V-day together (2006) I came home from school to find a home cooked meal and the table elegantly set.  Candles and candlestick holders that I had never seen before adorned the table. He had even bought me a bouquet of roses that matched my wedding bouquet! He had ordered chocolates from France that came in a wooden box with the inscription "I Love You Kelly J." written upon it.

Our second Valentine's Day he had written me a poem; I  love Sam's poetry. But to add to it he had sent the poem to be professionally inscribed upon a parchment scroll with beautifully carved wooden dowels, and tied up in a beautiful green ribbon.

Our third Valentine's Day, 2008 in Colorado, I woke up to find a single rose with a couplet attached to it. As I got ready for the day, I continued to find solitary roses, each one a different color, and each one with a couplet written by Sam that linked the color of that particular rose to an expression of love towards me.

And now, 2009, he gave me a letter, but written with all of the eloquence of his poems. I have never had Sam express in so much detail his love, affection, and commitment towards me as he has upon this simple piece of paper.

Valentine's Day was coming to a close as I began writing this post, and now it is 7 minutes past midnight, a new day. But I wanted to take this moment to thank my husband, whenever he may come across this writing, for his devotion, tenderness, and detailed attention towards me.  All too often I let my faults get in the way of recognizing how wonderful you are Sam, and even at this moment I cannot grasp the enormity of the blessing that you are in my life.  I am just grateful to have a covenant between us, and with our best efforts and God's grace, eternity before us, because I want and need an eternity to fully cherish the unceasing breath of life that you add to my soul.

I love you Sweetheart.
