Our Life Together

Rexburg, ID, United States
We've been married for 5 years! We met here in Rexburg, Idaho where we lived in the same apartment complex, volunteered with similar church callings, and attended the same university. It was only a matter of time before we'd bump into each other! Kelly graduated with her bachelors in psychology and has since been working with mentally ill adults and children. She has been accepted to Drexel Univeristy for her Masters in Higher Education Administration and Organizational Management. Sam recently graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with his bachelors in English Literature. We've had so much fun and so many growing experiences in the past 5 years, and have weathered so much good and bad during our young marriage. And we love each other so much more as a result of the happy and sad experiences that we have gone through hand in hand with each other and with the Savior. Our life is a simple one, but it's ours and we're glad to have it.

Soup Kitchen

Yesterday I went to the Idaho Falls soup kitchen with one of my clients.  I have never been to a soup kitchen before; I was impressed by it.  There were several volunteers, all kind and polite that I met, and they served the people there hot veggie soup, half a sandwich, juice/coffee, and dessert. I didn't eat; I would have felt bad eating food that could go to much needier people than me, but I sat there with my client and observed my surroundings. I also met a kind man who sat across from me and my client.  He prayed over his meal and then spoke so congenially to me and my client, as though he had known us. He goes to the soup kitchen every day, and explained to me that he really can't afford to pack/buy lunch for himself, but also expressed gratitude that he did have a job. I was so impressed by his gratitude and warmth and happiness.

I really love my job, how it gets me out and about in the community, meeting new people, and helping my clients. It 's not glamorous, and sometimes it is very stressful, but overall very rewarding for me.

That's pretty cool. I have always wanted to work in a soup kitchen with my kids for a service project...I think it would be a very humbling yet satisfying experience.
